The Lucky Pony

One day there was a horse named Wilma. She was a thorooughbred and was just about to have her first foal. She lived on a huge farm. The farmer was a jolly man. He had a wife and two children. On the farm there were chickens, a rooster, cows, a fearsome bull, tons of horses, sheep, pigs, goats, a cat and four kittens, and last but not least two sheep dogs. In the garden there lived a family of rabbits. In the pond there lived a family of frogs and toads. The farm had 714 acres and was the biggest farm in Kansas!

When the day arrived for the foal to beborn, the farmer, his wife, their children and the sheep dogs crowded around WilmaÕs stall. At exactly 2:14 pm the foal was born. She looked just like her mother. They named the foal Winnie.

After she had been broken in well, there were going to sell her. She was 5 and a half years old when this happened. Winnie did not like this. She wanted to stay with her mother. The worst part about this was that a very mean and nasty lady was going to buy her. Her name was Miss Scarlet.

When Miss Scarlet arrived to take Winnie, Winnie was gone and so was Wilma! The farmer said they probably ran away the night before. The farmer hopped on Magic, another horse in the stable, and set out to look for Winnie and Wilma.

The next morning the farmer arrived at the farm huffing and puffing without Winnie or Wilma or Magic. He said that Magic got scared by a rabbit and he flew off his back and Magic ran off. Miss Scarlet got so mad she stomped off and they never saw her again. As for Winnie, Wilma and Magic, they were still lost.

In June Winnie and Wilma came back! They were so happy that they forgot to call Miss Scarlet. Finally in August Magic happily trotted back to the farm and they all lived happily ever after. Except for Miss Scarlet who is now in jail for drinking and driving.
