The Show
I was so excited! I was going to be in my first 3 day event this weekend. I got out my all-time favorite horse, Diablo. He was gourgeus! I brushed him until his coat shown and gave him a treat.
"We're going to be in an event! Can you believe it?"
Diablo nickered back to me and I hugged him. I loved him so much. I kissed him on the nose and went off to the tack room. I picked up my jumping saddle and Diablo's bridle. I tack him up quickly and headed out for the cross-country course.
"Do it just like we're in the show Diablo."
We were off! We galloped over the four foot fences like they were nothing. Diablo and I were the perfect team, nothing could stop us!
*************
The first day of the show I arrived bright and early at the show grounds with Diablo. I had cleaned all the tack and given him a bath. He looked great and so did I. My Auburn red hair was in a french braid, my blue eyes shone, and all of my shows clothes were as clean as the had ever been.
I was 5th up in the dressage test and I knew it by heart. Luckily so did Diablo. He always had an understanding of things like that, so he memorized them.
Oh gosh, time flies! It's my turn. I rode into the
ring.
"stop, salute, walk to A track left, canter to K, counter-canter to C, extended trot, X,E,A. Canter around to X, halt, salute,"I though as I rode through the test. Finally it was over and I had done great. My trainer congratulated Diablo and I as we left the arena.
The days went by quickly and I had done very well. Diablo passed all the vet inspections, just like he always had and it was time for cross-country. My favorite!
"Rider 21 on Diablo at the gate,"the announcer called.
That was us! We were warmed up and whent the gate opened we cantered in. We went down the hill in a full gallopand over the triple, then the spread, and over the 5 mail course. Not even a rub! Wow! I can't believe it, this is awesome. Diablo was the best horse! We galloped through the finish and walked around to cool off.
In an hour they called the results. I had gotten first in everything. It was just so amazing! I went home with my huge trophy and went to bed. It was the best weekend of my life.
This is based on a true story in my life.
