Sage stood in his stall busily eating hay. His owner Nicole walked up. Sage stopped eating abruptly. What now, he thought.

"Sage, you look awfully silly with that hay hanging out of your mouth," she laughed and pulled it out. Phew, thought Sage, I hope thatÕs all! "Also," Nicole added. "WeÕre going to be in a show. Everyone gonna be there. Even Bojangles and Merlin. And donÕt worry. We can beat Lightning and Scrunchie any day!"

Oh no, groaned Sage. "Walk." The funny looking loudspeaker person commanded. Sage walked. After a while he heard, "Trot." Sage trotted. "Good boy", whispered Nicole. Soon the loud person said "Canter." Sage hated cantering. Bojangles, who happily galloped around for fun, said Sage was either lazy or loved the comforts of life. Sage found the second one perfect. Anyway, Sage trotted some more. Smack! Down came NicoleÕs leg. Sage cantered. He went home that afternoon with a blue ribbon.
